Sideau® Floristry Bricks Useful even when no longer needed in your flower arrangements. Floristry bricks manufactured by Sideau™ are made from basalt a dark fine-grained volcanic rock and sucrose produced naturally from cane or sugar beet both of which are completely compostable. The used blocks which have contained flowers also have a secondary use which are too valuable to be simply thrown away. Cut the bricks into small pieces and use as a base for plant and patio containers, the nutritious composition of basalt meal and sucrose makes it an ideal medium for plants to thrive. Eventually should the material no longer be needed it can be added in small pieces to your compost bin with other green waste. Volcanic rock being one of the original ingredients of the brick is useful to help generate heat and speed up the natural composting process. The shredded parts will decompose into basaltic flour which is similar to fine sand and is in itself a very good soil improver. The overall end result from your compost pile will be a supply of organic matter for your garden.
